UNIVERSITY OF MACAU SUCCESSFULLY HOSTS HSBC/UM MACAU BUSINESS CASE COMPETITION 2026 FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR, FOSTERING CROSS-UNIVERSITY STUDENT DEVELOPMENT IN MACAU

The University of Macau (UM) successfully hosted the “HSBC/UM Macau Business Case Competition 2026” in April. This prestigious competition has been held for three consecutive years, jointly organized by UM’s Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) and the Centre for Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies (CTIRS), and supported by the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, Macau Branch (HSBC Macau).

A total of 24 teams from four different universities in Macau enthusiastically joined the competition for the qualifying round, and 9 teams were shortlisted to present their case study submissions in the first round. The 3 finalists were given 3 hours to analyze an unpublished business case, come up with a solution, and prepare a compelling final presentation. Lastly, the panel of judges, consisting of senior executives from HSBC Macau — including Mr. Henry Chow, Chief Executive Officer, Macau; Mr. Frederick Lau, Head of Global Markets, Macau; and Ms. Alice Zhang, Head of Global Trade Solutions, Macau declared Team Jet2holiday as the Champion. Team Red Squad and Team Wins Consulting secured the 1st Runner-up and the 2nd Runner-up respectively. The Champion, Team Jet2holiday, won the cash prize of MOP10,000.00 and will be supported to participate in the “HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2026” held in Hong Kong this June.

The prize presentation ceremony was conducted on the 15th April and featured the participation of Mr. Henry Chow and Prof. Lawrence Fong, Associate Dean (Curriculum and Teaching) of the FBA at UM, who proudly presented the awards to the winning teams. The HSBC/UM Macau Business Case Competition 2026 was a remarkable success, providing a valuable platform for students from various universities in Macau to connect, learn, and grow together. Prof. Amy So, the Assistant Dean (Business Engagement and Alumni Affairs) of FBA, Director of CTIRS at UM, representing the Organizing Committee, affirmed that FBA would remain dedicated to nurturing the next generation of business leaders and contributing to the ongoing development of Macau’s business community.
