Since 2021, the Centre of Tourism and Integrated Resort Studies (CTIRS) under the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA) has been offering a unique “Hospitality Student Management Trainee Program” for FBA students. The program is aimed to equip students with practical skills needed in the real-world hospitality operation. It is composed of both theoretical training as well as hands-on training and practicum.
The whole program is composed of a combination of 60 hours of course training and 70+ hours of practicum training. The Practicum will be conducted for the CTIRS or FBA such as the Macao Sustainable Tourism Development Workshop (MSTDW, former Integrated Resort Career Simulation Program).
Four modules have been offered to all FBA students this year. A total of 65 applications were received from students across different years and majors.
Module 4 Professional Etiquette Training is a brand new course offered in 2025.
We received a total of 47 valid student enrolments and after interview, 36 of them are prioritized to attend the course. During the course, students are expected to learn the comprehensive knowledge of practical etiquette principles, including confident self-presentation, business dining etiquette, cross-cultural communication, and appropriate conduct in academic, professional, and social settings.
Module 3 Coffee Barista Training is a course offered since 2022.
We received a total of 49 valid student enrolments and after interview, 18 of them are prioritized to attend the course. During the course, students are expected to learn the coffee preparation techniques and knowledge comprehensively, such as coffee bean origins, roasting and grinder calibration, and knowledge of equipment maintenance.
Module 2 Front Office System Opera Training is a brand course offered since 2021.
We received a total of 34 valid student enrolments and after interview, 25 of them are prioritized to attend the course. During the course, students are expected to learn the in-depth knowledge of Opera PMS functionality, including reservations, check-in/check-out procedures, room management, guest profiles, and reporting.
Module 1 Hotel Guest Room Cleaning Training is a course offered since 2021.
We received a total of 22 valid student enrolments and after interview, 18 of them are prioritized to attend the course. During the course, students are expected to learn the comprehensive knowledge of Housekeeping Department, routine tasks of a Housekeeping Room Attendant including but not limited to the daily room cleaning procedures; knowledge of cleaning effectiveness, safety, sustainability factors in Housekeeping. Last but not least, students will also learn the key tasks and job responsibilities of a Housekeeping Floor Supervisor.
